Senior Infrastructure Lead

Reports to: Vice President, Information Technology

Company Headquarters – Seattle, WA or Portland, OR

Position Summary: This is a multi-disciplined position designed to help with strategy, architecture, deployment, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our IT infrastructure (storage, network, phones, wireless, firewall, security, desktops, laboratory computing systems, workstations). It will provide support to multiple sites in Washington, Oregon, and other locations as we expand our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Storage (NAS/SAN) management and capacity planning
  • Capacity planning; documentation of all infrastructure
  • Server (AWS, physical VM host, standalone) build-outs, upgrades, and maintenance
  • Cloud-based voice and data network capacity planning; maintenance
  • Cloud-based firewall and security management
  • Manage vendors and partner relationships when required
  • Participate and define enterprise level best security practices and policies
  • Third tier support to end-user customers when required (desktops, benchtops, scientific workstations, etc.)
  • Participate in budget planning and justification process
  • Act as mentor to other team members and may manage team members in the future

Experience and Competencies:

  • 8-10 years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer/Lead
  • 3 years of experience working in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in database management and support, hardware management, technical analysis and problem-solving with excellent network troubleshooting skills
  • Architectural experience in enterprise environments – WANs, LANs, Virtual Private Networks
  • 1-3 years of experience in multi-building, secured wireless networking
  • Experience in Cisco L2/3 switching, routing, and ASA configuration
  • Experience in SAN/NAS/DAS storage architecture, configuration, and support
  • 5 years of experience supporting scientific benchtop computing systems, scientific workstations and end-user laptops (Windows; Mac)
  • 1-3 years of experience with Cloud technology (AWS preferred)
  • 1-3 years of experience in Linux OS and scientific application support (scientific workstations)
  • Strong TCP/IP experience (DHCP, DNS, NAT, FTP, LDAP, HTTP, etc.)
  • Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple priorities while providing excellent customer service
  • Responds creatively and simply to continuous change and steady growth environment
  • Solutions-oriented team player with high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Seeks out information, training, and other resources needed to facilitate continual professional development necessary to be successful in this position
  • Strong and clear communicator (written and verbal) who develops simple designs for complex issues
  • Excellent work ethic, initiative, self-motivation, and ability to work independently
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment whose primary focus is simplicity and delighting the customer
  • Ability to travel to Seattle locations, Portland, Pullman and future Phytelligence locations
